The name 'gold' comes from the old English woed geolo, also meaning yellow. The symbol for gold on the periodic table is AU. This comes or the Latin word aurum, meaning gold. Gold is used for three main things now a days such as, electronics, jewlery, and coins. The use of gold is used in electronics because it is very easy to work with and can also be drawn into wire. Gold is usually obtained from the crust of the earth.
